Christmas 2013 – Director’s Notes

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

Our concert this season features selections which, I hope, will appeal to a variety of tastes.  For the “classically minded”, you will enjoy the music of Gabrieli, Pinkham, Handel, Bach, Mendelssohn.  For the “I know that tune” folks, there is a carol medley (please sing with us as indicated in the program) plus at least four other carols and songs.  For the “eclectically minded”, there’s a spiritual, a Russian chorus, two pieces from England and two others from America.  All in all, a nice mix.  We spiced things up a bit with the addition of our guest brass quartet.  Our brassy friends do the honors with the Gabreli, Pinkham, and the carols.

Speaking for the Detroit Lutheran Singers, I can say we have enjoyed preparing these pieces for you and hope you will find the concert a blend for all tastes. Thank you for choosing to have DLS be part of your Christmas celebrations.
